What is an air purifier and does it actually work?

Germs and pathogens spread in three different ways: person to person, surface to person and air to person. When a person sneezes or coughs, airborne respiratory droplets are produced and travel independently or attach to dust particles in air currents. These droplets can be inhaled and cause infections in other people. Air purifiers are designed to filter these airborne particles and respiratory droplets to reduce the level of contamination in the air in your home or business.

Why use an air purifier?

In 2021, the EPA has estimated that about 90% of our lives are spent indoors yet indoor air quality is often two to five times more polluted than outdoor air*. Larger droplets and particles that aren’t inhaled can settle onto surfaces over time, and create a risk of cross contamination. With a large number of people returning to places of work, it is increasingly becoming a business priority to improve the quality of air and help reduce the likelihood of viruses and bacteria causing sickness, which can result in high volumes of absenteeism.

Are air purifiers effective against COVID-19?

The air purification unit used as part of the ENVIROPure+ Service uses a highly effective medical grade HEPA 13 filter that removes airborne pathogens and pollutants, helping to make indoor air safer. The air purification unit is shown to remove 99.95% of airborne particles larger than 0.3 microns, including those in respiratory droplets released from the dry cough of someone infected with COVID-19 (these are on average 15 microns in size).

Why choose our ENVIROPure +Service?

  • Health and safety is our number one priority and that is why the air purifiers used as part of our ENVIROPure+ Service are professionally serviced four times per annum to ensure that they continue to provide fresh, clean, purified air. Our technicians are professionally trained to service these units, eliminating any risks caused as a result of customers changing filters themselves.
  • A “clean air delivery rate” (CADR) is a function of airflow and filtration efficiency, stating the volume of cleaned air delivered in a specific time. Our air purification unit features a highly efficient Clean Air Delivery rate (CADR) of 615m3/h that is powerful enough to clean a 36m2 room in ten minutes. By comparison, some other air purifiers available through retailers have been tested to reveal a typical CADR of 330 m3/hr.
  • Our ENVIROPure+ Service is equipped with a pre-filter, HEPA 13 filter and a carbon filter in order to give your business maximum protection. Medical grade HEPA filters work by filtering out particles and sanitising the air, significantly reducing the spread of COVID-19. The comprehensive filtration system helps capture bacteria, fungi and viruses above 0.3 microns or contained in respiratory droplets.
