Initial medical services provides clinical waste disposal services that strictly follow the current clinical waste guidelines. Once collected, the waste is segregated and secured for transport by road in compliance with all National and EU transport regulations.
The waste is transported to a licensed waste handling facility where it is segregated according to its treatment/ disposal route. The ultimate process of treatment/ disposal is dictated by the nature and hazard of the waste.
General Categories of Healthcare Risk Wastes and bio-hazardous materials are disposed of by steam disinfection technology at Eco-Safe Systems Ltd. or Sterile Technologies Ireland Ltd. under EPA licensed 54-2 and 55-1 respectively. Both treatment sites are located in Dublin and are authorised to accept all categories of wastes as covered by EWC codes 1800 including all sub-sections.
Laboratory, pharmaceuticals, certain medical devices, chemicals / lab smalls, and dental amalgam, x-ray fluids are disposed by export for incineration / recovery to licensed treatment facilities in Germany.

All sites used are EPA approved, we regularly inspect the sites ourselves so that we can be totally confident in the standards they apply and the procedures they follow.
