Initial medical services is a registered Waste Carrier authorised for clinical waste collection

Initial medical services, as required by law, is a licensed Waste Carrier authorised to transport all types of clinical & hazardous waste. Our drivers are fully trained in the handling and packaging of hazardous waste and are happy to provide advice on best practice procedures whenever you require  it. They also carry spillage kits and spare equipment, as stipulated in the ADR Regulations and can assist in emergency spillage clean-ups if required.

At each clinical waste collection, our service driver places the waste containers in our purpose-built vehicles in a secure and safe manner. They are then transported for disposal in full accordance with guidance for safe handling, storage and transport of clinical waste.

Documentation

Under section S.I. No. 147 of the 1998 Waste Management Regulations , for the movement of hazardous waste, producers or holders of hazardous waste must complete a C1 form/ consignment note for all hazardous waste been transported from their site.  This form must accompany the waste at all times, from point of collection through to point of treatment.

C1 forms are supplied by the Environmental Section of each County Council.  The form must be obtained from the County Council where the waste is generated.  Alternatively Initial Medical Services drivers can provide and complete a C1 form on your behalf.
